The present article is devoted to the β → α phase transformation of Са3(РО4). This phase transformation is low-rate, first-order reconstructive transition, so α−Са3(РО4)2 can be obtained in the course of low-rate cooling (ca. 5˚С/min). Transformation α → α’ is a high-rate, first-order deformation phase transition; such a fact indicates that α’−Ca3(PO4)2 cannot be obtained even by quenching.

Keywords: tricalcium phosphate, polymorphism, reconstructive phase transition, deformation phase transition, first-order transition.
